I will try to do some longer intro post/get to know me thing soon, but in the mean time: hello! I am figuring this thing out as I go! It is strange leaving (or starting leave) tumblr. I am still a relative fandom newcomer, only getting into fandom around 2013-ish. This means that unlike a lot of people my age, tumblr (well, mostly AO3, but also tumblr) was my first fandom home. I never had an LJ, so I don't have any nostalgia for that era, and the style of fandom that lived there is still pretty unfamiliar to me. I know I am not alone in DW being new and different, rather than a familiar throwback, so it seems like now is as good a time as any to be a newbie here. I have heard so many war stories about Strikethrough for so long, that in a strange way, getting bucked by a platform like this feels like a fandom rite of passage.

It really is a rite of passage, because we keep using Yahoo platforms and Yahoo keeps going down in the flames of their own incompetence. Maybe this time we'll learn?

We learned a little last time, and most of the fic is safe this round, at least! Part of me is a little excited to see what comes of all this, but I don't have a lot of skin in the game. If I was a fanartist or sex worker, I imagine I would be a lot less excited.

That's a good point, the fic is safe! I'm not in a majorly affected camp either (except in the "the internet keeps getting less and less sexy friendly" sense) and I mostly just hope we all come back to dreamwidth.

That is very true and that trend is scary to me too. I just want to be a pervert in peace.
