Rare Male Slash Exchange 2022 letter
Dear writer,
Thank you so much for writing for me!
Everything here is just ideas, things I usually like, and starting points, so hopefully something in here inspires you. If you have other ideas or are inspired to go in a different direction, follow your heart.
Some of these requests are Frankenstein-ed together from other letters I have written, so some requests are longer or more detailed than other, but I would be equally happy to receive any of these requests. Also, I am happy to receive treats!
General Likes: historical research and detail, humor, characters of all levels of morals, complicated relationships, happy endings, un-happy endings, small moments, backstory, getting-together, intense feelings and relationships, forced proximity (only one bed, huddling for warmth, etc.), hurt/comfort, pastiche, unusual formats and storytelling, epistolary fic

Hot Fuzz (2007)
Nicholas Angel/Danny Butterman
I recently rewatched Hot Fuzz after marinating in slashy buddy cop fandoms for the past couple of years, so it hit just right. Post-canon seems like a logical jumping off point for a fic shipping these two, but canon divergence would be equally welcome! That moment when Danny says he can show Nicholas how to switch off, and it seems for a moment like they might kiss? Maybe let’s see what happens if they do.
Doris aside, sex is really barely present in the movie, so I would love to see interpretations as to what Nicholas and Danny are like about sex and sexuality and relationships. Pretty different, I would think, considering their odd-couple status! How experienced are they? What is their dating history like? Have either of them been with a man before? If this is either of their first time with a man, how do they handle that? Does one of them really struggle with it and one finds it easy and natural? I’d just like to see the two of them figuring it out together. I don’t have any set headcanon answers to any of these questions and would be thrilled to see how you want to answer them.
I would love something on the explicit side for this pairing! They are both hot to me, especially Danny, and I’d love something that really revels in the two of them, their bodies, and their attraction to one another. If you do go a smutty route, figuring it out could definitely extend to the bedroom. It might be fairly awkward and fumbling! I don’t have a clear idea here, but something riffing on Danny’s dvd collection and love of movies extending to pornography could also be fun.
Peep Show
Mark Corrigan/Jeremy Usbourne
Peep Show is one of my comfort shows and I return to it over and over. My main desire in a fic is that it takes advantage of the show’s gimmick so the reader is “hearing” Mark and Jez’s thoughts.
I would love to see classic fic tropes played out as misadventures for these two: Pretend dating? (A lie one of them makes for some reason that they then must play along with?) Only one bed? Accidentally married/marriage of convenience? (Some kind of scheme on Jez’s part that Mark is forced into playing along with?) Huddling for warmth? (Camping? Outdoor hijinks?) I would suggest trapped together, but that already happened in canon. I am also down for wackier tropes, like body-swap or sex pollen.
What kind of circumstances would lead to Mark and Jez hooking up, or Mark resigning himself that they are dating, or them ending up married, or something else along those lines? I was delighted by the show going for it with Jez being queer in the last season, and I could see Mark just eventually agreeing to give it a shot if Jez wore him down. I am down for any rating, and if you want to include sex scenes, I am fine if they have a funny, sex-comedy vibe, rather than being “hot”, exactly. I am not looking for a perfect romance here, and I’m totally happy if they, for instance, hook up but don’t enjoy it, or date but don’t stay together permanently (well, any more than they are already stuck together forever as roommates), or some other ambivalently slashy scenario. I like the tone of the show and whatever they get up to can be as successful as anything they ever get up to.
Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh
Trevor Barnes/Curtis Craig
Phantasmagoria 2 takes on a lot of big topics, like queerness, kink, mental health, and abuse. How successfully it deals with any of these varies, but I think there is a lot of interesting stuff there, and I would love a fic that digs into any of the ideas the game was engaging with, while also being a schlocky FMV game in 1996. I would be happy for a fic that is serious in tone, but would be equally happy to get a fic leaning into the cheesiness of the game.
The tastes of Curtis/Trevor we got in the game left me wanting more. I am pretty ok with whatever direction you want to go with in this one. I would be into a happy-ending fix-it fic, where Curtis and Trevor decide to get out of there before they get in too deep and where Trevor lives. I would also be really into a variety of not-so-happy endings. Or things that are not fix-its or endings at all, but just a moment in the course of the game (or some point that diverges from the game) where they….kiss/hook up/Curtis confessed his feelings/etc.
I would love smut for this pairing and I would be thrilled to see any of the kinks brought up in canon: bondage, whipping, piercing, cross-dressing (I know this one isn’t a kink in game, but I would be happy to see it as one here). How would it be for Curtis to explore these things with somebody other than Therese? How does Trevor feel about it? I would also be into smut that takes advantage of Curtis’s alien-ness: weird biology, transformation, tentacles, that sort of thing. Get as wild as you want in this regard. Maybe as post-canon fic where Trevor lives and helps Curtis accept his monstrosity (via freaky alien sex)? And if there is a kink you want to include that I don’t mention here or isn’t present in canon, as long as it’s not a DNW, feel free to go with it. Curtis is always learning new things about himself. I am also totally happy if you want to lean into the darker and horror aspects of the canon, in conjunction with smut or not.
I really liked Curtis’s scenes with Dr. Harburg, if you wanted to incorporate those or maybe use them as a framing device. It might also be interesting to see something from Trevor’s perspective, since the game is so in Curtis’s head.
The Thick of It (TV)
Ollie Reeder/Malcolm Tucker
You know the bit in The Rise of the Nutters, when Malcolm menaces Ollie in the men’s toilets? That is my favorite subgenre of TTOI fic and I will happily read any variation on it. It absolutely doesn’t have to be actually set in that episode or even take place in a bathroom, though. I’m sure Malcolm is capable of menacing Ollie in any number of locations, at any time. Basically, I would love any version of Malcolm sexually bullying Ollie. I do quite like the semi-private confined space setting (bathrooms, supply closets, elevators, etc.) that the workplace nature of their relationship lends itself to. I would be excited to see what cramped space you can cram the two of them into, what Malcolm is bullying Ollie about, how Ollie reacts, and what happens next. I would be equally thrilled for a bit of smut or some UST-charged threatening. And maybe this goes without saying, but feel free to dubcon it up if you’d like.
Trailer Park Boys
Julian/Ricky LaFleur
Another recent rewatch where I was reminded how much I ship them. My desire for this ship is canon-typical hijinks with the slash turned up. Some possible ideas:
Fake married or fake dating! I can totally see Julian and Ricky getting married for some kind of scheme or scam. Maybe they think it will get them out of some kind of legal trouble? Or maybe it is to get a better trailer only available to married couples? Some kind of benefits fraud? It doesn’t matter if their motivation actually works, in fact, it is probably funnier if it does not. What’s the wedding like? The kiss? What are the vows? Does Ricky think they have to have sex to make it official?
J-Roc is making pornos again, and this time it’s gay porn. Somehow Julian and Ricky are roped in to star.
Julian and Ricky start hooking up while in prison, and now they are out and aren’t sure what happens next. Things are different in prison, so there’s no reason for them to keep hooking up now that they are out, but one of them (ok, probably Ricky) wants to keep it going.
If you want to go a smutty route (which I would be stoked to receive!), I would be totally fine if it is more funny than hot. I am also down if the two of them hook up and have a bad or weird time. On the other hand, maybe they have a good time! After all, apparently Ricky is good at sex. I would be as stoked to receive a sweaty, stoned PWP as anything else I’ve mentioned.
I have not watched the show comprehensively, and I have seen more of earlier seasons than later ones, but feel free to set fic whenever (or in a nebulous time that doesn’t correspond to any specific time in canon) and don’t worry about spoilers.
