Challenge #6

In your own space, make a list — anything between one and ten things is a sweet spot, but don't feel constrained by that! - of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, or that you'd like someone to make for you. Are you dying for podfic of your writing? Do you need icons for a character that doesn't get much fanart? Is there a story you want to read? Are you looking for new canons to get into? Would you like a collaborator for a project?

- I am watching due South but it is slow going and I wish I had somebody who had already seen it and loves it to yell about it with as I go. I could post about it to the void, but my favorite is having somebody I can send those immediate, mid-episode thoughts and questions directly. I love getting the "superfan commentary track" ("did you know that while they were filming this scene that X" or "You are coming up on a very famously slashy scene :D", that sort of thing) on things I am watching.

- More kinkmemes! I love the chaotic horny energy of a kinkeme, and if I had my way, there would be one for every new or old fandom I love (and Dreamwidth is my favorite place for them). Even seeing an active kinkmeme for a fandom I'm not in warms my heart.

- I wish there was community for shipping and/or canon manifestos.

fancake is great for individual fic recs, but I love to be convinced and read about why a ship/canon is good (and I'm a multishipper! I can be convinced on a lot!). I always seek them out (on

crack_van or

ship_manifesto) when I get into an older canon, and I wish there was such a place for current canons.

- I'll end the list with my most specific wish, which is a very particular fic craving I have been having: fluffy and domestic post-canon Leverage OT3 Eliot Spencer mpreg.

I just like to see that people are having fun, yanno! (I actually feel that way about most expressions of fannish happiness for fandoms I am not in, but kinkmemes are just such a pure version of that.)

As far back as 2012 for you? Huh. I got into online dS fandom in 2011, but I thought it was much later than that when I connected with you over dS. And I'm just as obsessed with dS as I ever was, so maybe some time we can scream about it together again.

Agree about kink memes! Sadly seems like they are going out of fashion (at least in the fandoms I've been in lately), and I too want one for every fandom.

I am surprised they would go out of fashion, they fill such a specific need. How else are people supposed to anonymously air their stickiest and iddiest ideas?

Right?! I was always fascinated by the things that end up on kink memes. (And sometimes inspired.)

I feel like it might just be that some of the newer/younger fandoms are mostly active on platforms that don't work well for kink memes (and too few know about the AO3 functions). I was in a fandom recently where I proposed a kink meme and no one knew what it was, so I happily spread the knowledge. :D

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Kink memes are something special, I miss that atmosphere. Also I loved ship manifesto and every time I get into a new ship I think about how I'd love to see a manifesto on it and get nostalgic. I sadly have only watched a few episodes of due South but it makes me happy people still into it. It's never too late.

And are you aware that there is a dS kinkmeme comm in DW and a dSC6D prompt meme comm in AO3?

Yay! I will definitely send some feelings your way! (I think I possibly only retained your DW, but either way, got it now). I was not aware that there is a dS kinkmeme! I've been trying to be good and not go too hard on the fic until I have finished the show (I am typically very bad about this. It helps knowing that I haven't even met RayK yet).

So you are still pre-RayK. I'm not going to give you links yet to the dS comms that I mod or to the dS kinkmeme or other dS comms while it would be potentially spoilery for you. (I myself had a most distressing spoiler experience from a dS vid while I was still in the first season, so I'm very conscious about not spoiling for other fen.)

BTW, my headcanons for RayV and RayK in relationship to Fraser are very different from each other, but I do <3 both Rays.

Something to look forward to when I finish the show! And I look forward to hearing your headcanons as well :)

In other dS news: next month at the Escapade slashcon two vidders will be premiering dS vids they made for me, and the person who does the con program covers is doing two of the covers as dS covers especially for me.

And speaking of cons, which one or ones are you attending this year?

I will actually be going to Escapade (my first time!) so it sounds like I will be seeing you soon.

I am hoping to go to Fanworks and also hopefully CON.TXT and/or ConFab, but I am job hunting/trying to move right now, so hard to make plans that far out at the moment. It will just depend on how my year shakes out!

Woo hoo! -- your first Escapade! -- and you've chosen a big anniversary one! It's Escapade's 30th anniversary -- making it the world's longest-running annual slashcon. And I'm the person in charge of the Escapade Welcommittee, so if you have any questions about that con you can direct them right to me!

Depending on your job-hunting and moving situations, we may be at A LOT of the same cons this year. Besides Escapade, I'm registered for ALL the other cons you named.

ETA: I'll have all the dS eps with me at Escapade, so LMK when we're at the con if you want to do any IRL ep-watching room-party thing.

This sounds so intriguing. I'm kind of craving this now too!!!

I am normally not a big fluff person but there's something about the Leverage OT3 that makes me love it with them!

And I just think Eliot would be into the idea of growing their little family (and all three of them have their own family baggage they would bringing into it), and like, who else is going to have the baby? Parker? For one thing, we have seen what Parker's diet is like. Also she would hate having her center of gravity changed like that, and I just don't think the world is ready for pregnancy-hormonal Parker.

I would love to see how pregnancy would force Eliot to nurture his own body and allow himself to be nurtured. And he would be very grumpy about pregnancy symptoms/having to be cared for/etc. in that very Eliot way, but also emotional because he used to kill people but now he gets to make a new life.
